Pros

Great prestigious company to work with admirable goal for growth and sustainability.

Cons

Total compensation is 30% less than what I am discovering in the market. Organiziational culture is not as advertised, and little work life balance.

Pros

Impossible to be fired for poor performance. Possibility of a large voluntary redundancy payoff.

Cons

Quasi-military organisational structure. Employees are expected to know the grade of everyone they interact with, and whether they’re allowed to speak to them directly or disagree with them. Adversarial relationships with other teams. Frequent instructions to withhold data or otherwise deliberately obstruct colleagues in their work. Lip service to becoming more data driven, but key technical decisions made by unqualified people managers, and displaying data/programming skills is VERY career limiting. Face time valued over productivity. Pressure to come to the office even when ill. “Non-essential” spending like IT cut to the bone, with predictable results.

Pros

JLR brand looks good on CV

Cons

Unconsciously bias at all levels. Only promotes and champions like for like. Middle class, white male, female and same social economic background. HR department has no idea of the meaning of diversity or inclusion. A person of colour is held more accountable than their white counter parts for the same perceived “mistakes”. People of colour (mainly those of Afro Caribbean decent) never promoted, treated less favourably and receive no support when concerns are raised. Performance ratings are not truly based on performance but whether your “face fits” and whether your manager likes you. Certain managers promote a culture of distrust and gossip.
