An oppressive place where each year you're asked to do more with less. Incredibly bureaucratic - like working for the federal government. I always found the evaluation (personal business commitments) to be totally devoid of input by the employee - you "committed" to do whatever your boss directed you to, no matter how unrealistic it was. The other problem is that IBM continues to think its the 1980s and that it leads the tech industry in innovation.

Being a small cog in a big machine - ocassional bureaucratic headaches. The pay was adequate, but perhaps felt a bit on the low end vs. competitors. Benefits felt a little stingy. It was a bit disapointing when I was there that a big portion of bonuses were tied to the division's performance and the overall firm's performance, so in a time when parts of the business I had nothing to do with were under performing, my compensation was was lower.
