      Pros

      Culture of competency. Very intelligent and experienced workforce. Support for diverse workforce. Benefits are significant.

      Cons

      Deceptive hiring practices - i.e., waving historic bonus performance in new hires face, while not true to actual performance. Partner practices do not support true community building of specific expertise - actually works counter to team-building because controls like utilization targets, combined with management lack of attention creates a focus on individual, self-directed practice.

      The downside of working as a consultant for a big company

      Pros

      I still work for IBM because I like the project and the client that I am working for. The location is perfect and I have been working with this client for the past couple of years. I have considered looking for another job but the timing is not right.

      Cons

      Employee manger is located some where else and there is no direct communication. Manager is the one who decide on promotion and bonus even though he does not work directly with the employee. Reimbursement for tuition is very hard.
