A Nightmare of Toxic Management

Pros

Everything was great until Jan, 2023 when new leadership started to disrupt the bright future of the company.

Cons

Since Jan, 2023, it was evident that the company's leadership was more interested in maintaining an oppressive hierarchy than in fostering a positive and collaborative environment. Meetings and town halls often devolve into power struggles and manipulation party rather than innovation and teamwork. Many managers consistently display poor communication skills, including not being able to listen (because they're too insecure), passive aggressiveness and dismissive attitudes towards team members. This leads to confusion, demoralization, and decreased collaboration among team members. Transparency becomes a foreign concept here. Major decisions are made behind closed doors, leaving employees feel like they have no say in the direction of the company. This lack of communication breeds resentment and further erodes trust in the leadership. Promotions and opportunities seem reserved for an elite few, leaving the rest of us to wonder whether our hard work and dedication even matter. The blatant favoritism is demoralizing and creates a sense of hopelessness among those who are genuinely committed to their roles. I've witnessed talented individuals leave in droves due to the toxic environment. It's heartbreaking to see many colleagues who were once enthusiastic and driven become disenchanted and defeated by the oppressive atmosphere. The turnover rate speaks volumes about the company's priorities. In conclusion, I strongly caution anyone considering joining this company. The pervasive toxicity, lack of transparency, and disregard for employee well-being make this a place where professional growth and happiness disappear. It's a cautionary tale of what happens when a company prioritizes power dynamics over its people.

It's all an illusion

Pros

- The coffee was always good

Cons

- Immature and toxic management, lack faith in their talent. - Lack of direction, truly feels like they're walking around blind and just praying something works. - As others have said, heavy favoritism for certain people and a clique culture. It's a bro energy, so being a woman leader sucks. - There used to be some glimpse of culture, but now it's just a free-for-all. - They've lost so much great talent over the last year, like people who truly cared about the company and it's starting to show in the output. - Just a reminder that most of those 5-star reviews aren't real.

Decline of a Once-Good Company - Toxic Culture and Mismanagement

Pros

Used to be a good company with lot of potential

Cons

When I joined Huspy, it was characterized by good management and a transparent work culture, which was upheld by the previous CTO, who was also a co-founder. However, the day he left the firm due to reasons unknown, the company's culture took a drastic turn for the worse. * Favouritism and Nepotism: Huspy appears to operate on a culture of favouritism, where promotions and career advancements are seemingly reserved for those who have close ties to the C-level executives. If you are not part of this inner circle, your contributions and potential may go unnoticed and unrewarded. * Mass Layoffs in a Fragile Job Market: Despite operating in a city like Dubai, with a limited job market, Huspy conducts mass layoffs without due consideration for employees' commitments, including financial obligations such as rent and living arrangements. * Disregard for Talent Acquisition: The company's practice of bringing in talent from different parts of the world only to terminate them within a few months raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of the hiring process and employee retention. * CEO's Lack of Technological Insight: It is evident that the CEO lacks a fundamental understanding of the company's technology and is disinterested in seeking knowledge. The result is a company led by individuals hired to manage operations rather than those who possess a vision for technological growth. * Incompetent Managerial Decisions: The recent hiring of my manager, who proceeded to terminate the entire team to make room for his friends, is indicative of the flawed decision-making within the company. Raising concerns about such actions led to retaliation from C-level executives rather than addressing the core issue of an incompetent manager leading a tech team. * Uninvolved Hiring Process: Huspy has a concerning practice of conducting hiring for positions without involving the candidates, leading to feelings of insecurity and uncertainty among employees. * HR Ineffectiveness: The HR department's inability to address issues appropriately and their apparent alignment with direct managers without considering facts and situations undermine employee trust. * Neglect of Peer Feedback: Despite the importance of peer feedback in the review cycles, Huspy seems to overlook it, placing job security at the mercy of an employee's relationship with their direct manager. * Managerial Absence and Disregard: My manager's frequent and unpredictable absences, coupled with a lack of prior notice, have negatively impacted the team's productivity and morale. In conclusion, my experience at Huspy has been disheartening, characterized by a toxic culture, mismanagement, and a decline in transparency. The departure of the previous CTO marked a turning point, leading to a detrimental shift in the company's values and practices.
