Pros

GSK is a well-respected, forward thinking, global leader in the healthcare industry. Salaries are fair, and as a sales rep, I can say that I am not micro-managed. This is a good company to work for, but I would not recommend joining us on the pharma side -- try vaccines, HIV, consumer health, etc.

Cons

Because of the economic situation nationally, this is a bad time to get into pharma sales. I've had multiple managers in a very short time frame, experienced two recent lay-offs, and am certain another is looming. Bonus is almost impossible to make at this point, as well.

Pros

GSK is a solid company with an outstanding reputation. I think that the products are well-received by the physicians and staff. I think you can lead a balanced life while working here. Compensation seems to be competitive. The company recently adjusted salaries because they hired a consulting group to evaluate how competitive the pay is. Co-workers are professional and are the type of people you would want as friends. The people in my division work together as a team and we try to help each other by passing along information that has helped us in the field. I have had to spend very little time at night or on the weekend doing administrative work.

Cons

I can't think of any downsides to working for GSK.

Pros

World's 2nd largest Pharmaceutical company. The company is involved in meeting unmet medical needs. It also has been consistently rated as a responsible corporate citizen. GSK R&D work environment is very good with good work-life balance.

Cons

Large organization. The Pharmaceutical industry in general is going through significant changes as drugs are coming off-patent and companies trying to replace them. Therefore, lots of changes taking without waiting for changes implemented to deliver. GSK is not one of the best pay master relative to its peers.
