Pros

Opportunities for professional growth within a given department, great benefits package/pension plan, in general corporate culture promotes a team-based environment.

Cons

All of the Pros above exists in most departments but not all. So sorry. If you are interviewing for a position at this company ask clever questions to get an idea of the culture and management style of the department. Changing of upper management can grossly affect the culture of a department. The opportunities to move about internally will come around with the constant reorganization but only then. Change is the only constant (which is necessary for survival in this industry) so you will have to learn to accept the change.

Cons

some territories are very large, shrinking bonuses, limited room for advancement, some territory managers can be brutal, lots of shifting around

Pros

great pay; if you work hard you'll be rewarded; high caliber of professionals on team; excellent ongoing training; excellent vacation and time off; can have work/life balance

Cons

I was laid off and despite that would rave about the company. I picked my poison so could expect that being the least tenured person on the team. I had a wonderful experience during my time there. I won a trip, made great money, felt proud of what I was doing. Yes, the cons...NO STABILITY. I agree. The morale is very low right now. Anyone who wants to get into pharma should wait. Get sales experience elsewhere copier, telecommunications, insurance, whatever...and come back when things look up. So cons, lack of stability, low morale, lack of motivation, no clear direction for professional development and growth, and most importantly, no sense of career advancement at all.
