Pros

If you enjoy watching a formerly great, longtime company disintegrate under micromanage from France, then this is your place.

Cons

This company had been in business for over 50+ years. Since being part of Fives it has gone downhill. Micromanaged our of France, no decision can be made without their approval and they make bad decisions. They don’t know or understand the industry or customers. Managers can’t make decisions w/o checking into France. No local control. We are losing our customer base because of French decisions and mandates. Employees, all good people, feel hopeless. Employees kept in the dark. Too much bureaucratic nonsense. Miserable. The other European locations feel the same way as US

Thank you for your opinion. Fives' business model aims to foster human sized and responsible organizations. Each subsidiary is part of a business unit, enabling them to create synergies together and giving them a greater impact on their industry. All company leaders have a real role to play in their organizations success.

Pros

Fives North American provides great opportunities to learn. Highly experienced and knowledgable employees actively work to transfer knowledge to and train others. It's informal, but effective. If you have the skills and are will to accept the responsibility, you be given many opportunities to work on, and complete, meaningful tasks and projects. Projects will take advantage of your strengths and skills, but will also push you to seek solutions beyond your current experience. Guidance is provided as needed by managers, executives and functional area experts. The management philosophy expects excellence but also treats everyone fairly. Management is very open and forthcoming about corporate goals, initiatives and expectations.

Cons

Shallow management structure limits opportunities to move up in the ranks.

Management has no foresight or planning ability. People are commodities and not valued. A lot of talk and no action.
