Pros

A pretty set scheduled was nice. The free meal every shift was nice, but I gained weight noticeably... WORKING IN A T-SHIRT! Yes! The secret shopper program was awesome. Got about $50 a week in bonuses.

Cons

I went to the open interviews they were having for shift leaders that would work at the up and coming store. I got a call that night with a job offer. They decided to train me at the store with the GM who was scheduled to open the new store. With no training plan in place, I was definitely not ready in time for opening day (like 3 or 4 weeks). The "training" process was horrible as there was no plan in place. Months pass and they (the GM and DM) still would not certify me, even though I was doing a better job than most the other managers... Eventually I get transferred to the training store in the area, four months after I got hired... The GM there put me on register the first day; I know how to run a register as I had been doing it for years. So after my first shift their I gave my letter of resignation. The managers were very hypocritical, telling me not to do something and then they turn right around and do it. Also, the GM turned away a customer because he came in 10 minutes early, but we were completely ready to serve people... And the company trusts her with the store??

Pros

My starting salary was good for the job, and my co-workers (minus the management) were generally friendly.

Cons

Overworked, I would work 14 hour shifts and the management would refuse to give me breaks, I was promised a raise that I never received, I was verbally abused by both my GM and my AM, even when I requested a days off anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months in advance I hardly ever received them, resulting in constantly having to reschedule doctors appts, etc. I would even explain why I needed the days off and would still not receive them although other employees would get those days off. They frequently cut me early due to labor, but yet nearly always tried to call me on my days off. My GM was known for skimming money off peoples final checks, and even when presented with evidence he would not change the amount they would receive. I would be asked to take out mass amounts of trash by myself every morning (it would be overflowing out of the bin, probably 200+lbs) that my AM opened but I myself weight 115lbs and am not even tall enough to open the containers with out climbing onto them.
