Pros

- Good office space - Good health care

Cons

- They pride themselves on undercutting people on salary. They play the "you'll be working with the brightest people in Seattle" card and it is untrue. Not worth taking the pay cut. - 50 to 60-hour weeks are the norm, with little recognition of hard work. Your work laptop will always be on no matter where you are. - Employee support and information for new hires (actually all employees) is abysmal - Monstrous bureaucracy leaves everyone in constant state of confusion and frustration - Upper management with no leadership or interpersonal skills - If you ever wanted to see an organization with middle and upper management throwing their individual contributors under the bus, this is your case study - Listening to company-wide executive reports and off-site presentations is like being at a frat party. Executive management is mostly white male and they do not understand or support their diverse employee base of genders and ethnicities.

Pros

Lots of projects, interesting people, nice building

Cons

No Pay raises for the last three years, hard to advance, managers don't care about you, VERY stressful environment, Managers drive you into the dirt and don't care, I've been here 4 years and never had a weeks vacation, if you go on vacation you are expected to carry a phone becuse you are on call. They allow changes to the environment without lab testing. Managers are not trained and treat employees badly. Stay away, this place will burn you down with stress and no one cares. Expedia is under staffed and those who are here work themselves to death.

Pros

Remarkably bright and enthusiastic people work at Expedia making it easy to go to work each day. The people there are passionate about what they do and love travel.

Cons

Unfortunately Expedia sees its people as line items in an expense report. Plus, it constantly hires from outside and reorganizes, eliminating any and all chances for promotion and development. There is a relentless focus on numbers and short term results. Expedia talks a good game, but its actions don't match its words and it is an extremely political organization. Every VP, every Director, likes nothing better to build their own empire and attack other parts of the organization. It's a company that would much rather make a single extra dollar than invest in its employees. Customers matter even less; there is a near singular focus on transactions, bottom-line results and hard-line negotiating tactics with suppliers.
