Pros

I came into HubSpot excited, motivated, and ready to face challenges head-on. But nearly 10 months in, I feel completely drained—not from the work itself, but from the culture and structural issues that make success feel out of reach. The system HubSpot uses to manage rep capacity and account sourcing is fundamentally broken. It heavily favors tenured reps who already have stacked books and deep-rooted relationships with partners and RevOps. These reps dominate the leaderboard, while new hires are left scrambling for scraps, with little support and almost no chance to catch up. It's not a level playing field, and it shows—only the top 5-10% of reps (almost all long-tenured) are regularly hitting quota in the entire Small Business org.

Cons

Management culture makes it worse. When you're doing well, you’re celebrated. The moment you have a dip, you're suddenly treated like you're incompetent or lazy. There’s no grace, no curiosity, no support—just judgment. I’ve never experienced micromanagement like this before. Managers sit on your calls, dictate what you say, and ultimately try to run the deal themselves. It’s demoralizing. You're not treated as a professional with experience—you're treated like a puppet. It’s become clear that there simply isn’t enough opportunity or business to go around. Overhiring has created massive internal competition, and leadership seems to be aware of the problem—but nothing changes. I wanted to grow here. I wanted to build something. But HubSpot has made it clear that I can’t. I’ll likely have to move on soon if I want to actually be trusted, supported, and given a fair shot at success.

Pros

The teams you work with are phenomenal. The knowledge combination between an internal customer facing teams, engineering product development teams, and Sales are unmatched.

Cons

Excessive use of PIPs to oust employees after multiple high revenue launches, with no explanation, actual documentation, or factual data. Reviews have been adjusted to allow for terminations post pre-approved leaves. Salaries are a joke. You are always in a cover yourself mode 24/7. Management reviews are consistently a 2 or 3 out of 5 no matter what. If a team decides you aren’t in the group, management will put you on a “unofficial” PIP without telling you, in order to surprise you at a later date. Even if they are unfounded. Beware of possibility of negative backlash post launches. They will feel the need to assign blame ( such as for timelines or issues related to bugs). Regardless of performance or level of involvement. This is an enormous company with many large paths for career advancement. But micro management is rampant, leaving little room for doing the daily expectations of your actual role. This degrades your opportunities for career advancement.
