Pros
Some great people. Really important work for the NHS and the patients
Cons
Epitomy of filling dead man's shoes. Middle managers give jobs to undeserving candidates because they have worked with them for decades. 5 restructures in 4 years. Promises of promotions from directors are always unmet because of change. Good talent leave because of no promotions and non-competative benefits, old and mediocre talent are kept because they are too expensive to let go of although they themselves seek opportunities for redundancies openly. Directors from non healthcare background taking leadership roles in the healthcare business without any experience of the NHS, making competing with Abbott really difficult. For eg. Marketing director wanting no NHS sales experience in marketing which is directly opposite to all NHS-Pharma Marketing positions elsewhere. Culture is incredibly demotivating.
