A really uncomfortable place to work. Let me make this very clear, the managers only care for their bonuses and that's it. Your personal well being and welfare is of no concern to them. If youre hitting targets and doing well etc then you're gold to them, otherwise you're nothing to them. I worked in stores sometimes where factors such as lack of customers etc wasnt taken into account and its always the consultants fault that targets are not met. They basically teach staff to harass customers into buying things. They then have the nerve to beg customers for a customer service rating of 10 at the end of the transaction just so they can make a bonus when in essence the staff just mug customers off. If they dont sell to customers then they get disciplinary hearings for it or are at risk of losing their jobs. They bang on about making the customer a priority but in actual fact they don't care. I have always done what is right for the customer but I would never send my family member or friend to shop at carphone warehouse because I know what they're like. The first day I walked in being new to sales all the staff were already very clued up with what they're doing and you're just expected to be the same. No guidance is given and they just expect you to know what you're doing. The managers are power hungry and dont trust their colleagues to do their jobs. None of them can actually sell but they'll happily act as dictators telling staff what to do. There is also a big hierarchy which makes staff feel inferior to their managers which is disgusting quite frankly. I know as a customer I hate going into a store and feeling pressured and that is exactly what staff are taught to do. I found it quite ridiculous that some managers tell their employees off for how they say hello to customers even though its always in a polite and welcoming manner.
