- Extremely long hours (08:30-18:30 minimum) plus regular overtime expected and required for the workload, so the hourly rate is low - do not be misguided by the salary and factor in time for commuting. This leads to...
- Poor work-life balance. This has been raised repeatedly in quarterly review meetings but never properly addressed, instead countered with efforts to create more social events - not what you need when burnt out from excessive work. Many team members have left due to decline in mental/physical health.
- Inexperienced management at multiple levels. You get promoted by tenure and ability to endure the workload rather than actual competence, which makes it difficult to develop solid transferable skills to advance your future career elsewhere.
This is unfortunately a toxic masquerading as ‘high performance’ workplace where no-one competent stays for long, and with the work being generally unchallenging besides the volume, the company can manage the high turnover by constantly hiring new graduates.
While not the worst place to work, you should grow your career elsewhere.
