Despite the company suggesting it values diversity and protects people in marginalized groups, my team was full of country boys who loved to be loudly homophobic, racist, sexist, whatever ist you can think of. I had to endure this while engineering a software feature for LGBTQ people to divulge their sexual orientation/gender identity to their employer while simultaneously being unable to be out as not straight at my job, as undoubtedly this would have cost me the pay raises I received and some professional relationships with said country boys. Major irony.
I didn't go to HR because people who report these things tend to become the problem and leaving the team wasn't really an option. At the end of my employment I shared this information- I do not believe any consequences have come to these people. HR exists to prevent lawsuits to the company, as far as I'm concerned.
Another former coworker was let go because their superior was bigoted. Nobody blinked an eye.
As far as executive management- the company acts like we're in a recession and it's not profitable. Constant talk of cutbacks, difficulty securing resources to the products that help them be profitable, asking more and giving less so that they can give a big payday for dividends. Old days are gone I guess.
Anyway, if you're a software developer and a straight white country boy with backwoods views this might be a good fit for you.
