Pros

Great concept of changing from electricity to wind energy.

Cons

Communication to office in Montreal because that is where all the accounting is done. Should have conducted an interview before the contract began rather than starting a stranger right in on the position.

A great company to work for

Pros

A great place to start and grow. Good starting salaries and performance based bonuses. Many young professionals keep it competitive; many whom are hungry to move up. Good training programs and opportunities to jump to other areas if you can show initiative. Very flexible in terms of family/work life. If the company is successful, everyone enjoys the spoils.

Cons

UK/NA/Paris office differ in culture and direction. Sometimes it seems as though the EDF machine stalls with lack of clear objectives. There are some that have been there since the Lehman era that have hit a wall and really don't bring anything new to the company. Retention for top talent is not great. Bonuses for trading isn't just performance or book based but how the company does overall. Some good performing traders get shafted while others who get by reap in the benefits.

Pros

- really interesting and varied work - at the cutting edge of customer contract innovation - surprisingly good at listening to and understanding its customers - strong company values - they walk the talk on sustainability, recycling and safety - mostly well paid work with a consistent performance related bonus available if work up to scratch - some very smart people work there you can learn from

Cons

- good at listening to customers but legacy systems mean we couldn't respond as fast as we would like (although these are being updated/consolidated) - very fine margins in residential and business retail electricity so huge focus on risk management which is sensible but a bit stifling
