Pros

The company culture and work environment are amazing and all of my coworkers make coming to work enjoyable. Lots of opportunity to advance if you are willing to put in the work or relocate to another state.

Cons

The biggest issue I see with the company is the commission structure. As others have said, unless you sell 13.5 + units each month, there isn't a lot of money to be made. It is tough to work 4-5 hours with a customer to only receive a $15 commission for your efforts. Considering the profit margin DriveTime is making on each car, It is hard to not feel slighted. Another big issue is with the quality of the vehicles we have to sell. It is impossible to sell a car when it isn't in working condition. It would benefit everyone in the company if we increased our standards in the vehicles we are selling.

We're sorry to see you don't recommend us as an employer. Please feel free to let us know how else we can improve our business by calling our Speak Up line or speaking directly with your manager. DriveTime moved away from the traditional car dealership model of employing commission-only Sales Advisors to primarily college educated, customer service focused, salaried employees. We believe this model provides a better experience for our customer and provides a greater career opportunity for all of our Sales Advisors.

No training no growth

Pros

Learning the basics of sales The opportunity to meet types of people and learning how to approach each "customer type" Learned a lot about different vehicles Learned a lot about the financing side of car sales

Cons

Questionable tactics to get people into cars Present certain perks as options but will not allow the customer to decline the optional products Office culture was biased No employee handbook from corporate Employees who are not "manageable" are able to break the rules with little-to no consequence No formal training, especially when it came to cold calling. I had to learn on my own.
