Pros

Name Recognition - Deloitte Consulting is genuinely a recognizable name among business school and other employers. Relative to working with a small company, I think that bigger companies offer employees more choice as to where they will go after they leave.

Cons

Culture is very draconian and hierarchical. There were many times when rank was invoked out of nowhere to prove a point, rather that using data to prove a point. Most projects have literally nothing to do with what most would consider management consulting. It is high-price temping at best. There is no support for new people. Do not count on superiors to lead you through. Very sink-or-swim environment. My best advice is to keep your head down, don't drink too much at their constant, and constantly awkward, office parties, and grit your teeth for two years.

Pros

If you cannot find a job elsewhere, it may be better than being unemployed

Cons

The people at Deloitte are overwhelmingly miserable and angry, and the more senior people take out their frustration about being trapped in a dead-end job on the more junior staff. Whilst I was at Deloitte I saw people who earn <60k being forced to work 12 hour days, and over the weekend. I saw bullying, including a young woman who was bullied for suffering morning sickness while pregnant. Basically, the staff are paid well and truly below market (i.e most people get salary increases of 50 - 100% when they resign). This means that the they do not attract the best, so you will never get the best training either. The opportunities are not great; basically Deloitte is not a commercial or financial adviser - they are simply a due diligence provider or "box ticker". You will never really be on any engagements where you actually add value.
