Pros

Nice central location in Paris Great spacious offices, terrasse, gym facility, Deezer sessions (you can see bands perform live in the cafeteria once in a while) The people who ARE Deezer => the ones who really work for the product and the company: developers, QA people, editors, artist marketing, R&D, product guys, data guys, marketing guys, customer support, biz dev, telco, accountants, label relations, legal, adsales, design ... Those colleagues were BY FAR the best I have worked with since I have started my professional life. You can (at least until 2016) be yourself, you don't really need to play a role which is great. People are mostly kind to each other.

Cons

Poor top management capabilities... No vision, no knowledge of the music business and the way it works. No team spirit, no love for the company or the product. They are here to get cash and put something "fun" on their LinkedIn (C-Level are overpaid for a company such as Deezer and their past track record does not legitimate iat all...). Silly decisions taken regularly (which highlight how far they are from reality and how thin their expertise is for such a business and a startup environment). Some teams fired from one day to another (with no valid reason), sometimes rebooted and relocated in London with no added value (if at least employees had seen an impact on the business and consumers had noticed the difference in terms of consumer experience... but...NOT). Since Feb'15, has become very political due to management changes. And the departure of the founder in April'15. Lots of great managers and staff resigned recently (from early 2016 until now)...

Pros

- Working with nice and talented people, even if they're now an endangered species - It can be an interesting company for very junior positions (don't stay there more than 2 years though)

Cons

- An entire team got suddenly fired for "strategic reasons" in 2016. Nobody ever understood why. They hired a new team abroad, partly made of friends of some top managers. - Lots of people are hired because they're a friend or a friend of a friend. - Only short term decisions are made. - The top management doesn't use / understand the product. It leads to broken business decisions. - There is absolutely zero consensus. The top managers and the CEO are in their Ivory towers, only making decisions by themselves, thinking they are right about everything. Some of them even have assistants printing their emails for them (interesting behavior for people working in the digital field by the way). - No transparency at all. It's all about lies - Some people in the HR support crazy decisions the top managers make about their employees instead of supporting their own workforce. - Too much politics - Top management order some teams to hire interns because they're - At Deezer, you are not considered as someone; you are just something.
