Pros

Diverse and everchanging fast paced environment. Generally good fun.

Cons

lack of professionalism and professional growth. Immaturity of some, progression based on "who you know" and how long you have been here.

Pros

You will work with some great people and make friends for life. You're able to get hands on with the latest technology and you become literate in almost every area of home appliances and electrical items.

Cons

I know people in our store who have won awards for customer service from national newspapers; provided the company with over 10 years of service and put in great sales performances week in week out yet still earn barely more than £6 per hour. I myself have worked for the company for four years. I started out part time whilst at college working 10-15 hours a week, i would consistently match full time colleagues sales figures and often beat them, and during peak times would be one of, or the top performer without fail. Despite this I have never been given a performace related pay increase during my time with Currys. If you are to apply for a position at Currys or PC World hen make sure that you apply for one of the larger stores as it is possible to hit individual bonus targets with good sales figures regardless of whether the store hits its target. However at the smaller stores the targets for the store to hit its team bonuses are impossibly high and it is rare you will hit your individual bonus target due to the lower number of customer. Finally do not expect to progress through this compay with good hard work and great sales performance; it doesn't work. There are very few development options in DSG either, so as i have found time and time again when applying for a position above your own you will be told you don't have the experience.
