Pros
1. Fantastic hybrid/remote working, especially for those who have very busy personal lives....i have seen these changes later in my career with Currys and it's been a huge benefit to employees wellbeing, let alone financial with travel.
2. Great opportunities to progress, i attained my CIPD whilst at Currys and they gave me time to study and even picked up the cost of books etc. this allowed me to excel in my career.
3. One day per month attending team meetings, Waterloo Head Office is a special place to work from, with view of London and fun facilities (pool table, great work stations/meeting rooms and Friday evening drinks) if you like that sort of thing.
4. Bonus - the business is going in the right direction, with CEO updates you can almost determine whether yearly bonus is being paid or not. We also get a increase percentage on top of this (depending on personal performance for the year).
5. Discounts and company incentives, pretty much aligned to most companies these days (Cycle to work scheme, pension, share save pot, discounts instore/online (inc family and friends card), family days out, EAP)
6. Christmas functions - i think being in a corporate environment is slightly disjointed but they always hire a function area with free food and drinks to entice you to get together. Other functions such as retail/Supply Chain is mainly site based so even though it's fast pace it's more of a family environment with lots of prizes and fun days up for grabs whilst they work exceptionally hard to service the best customer service at such a busy time.
7. Management - i have honestly worked for some fantastic managers, from Logistics, Supply Chain through to Talent Acquisition. Without these people/leaders i wouldn't have been able to achieve what i achieved over the last 15 years (they know who they are & Thank You)
8. and finally, i would recommended Currys across all sectors - i wouldn't have been at the business for 15 years if not a positive one. Every company has ups and downs but it's how they manage the 'downs' that have been of benefit.
Cons
The only cons i have sadly is that i am being made redundant, redundancies don't often come around so it was a big shock. It's a shame these decisions have been made but knowing i've worked for a well established company for 15 years through multiple roles will help me on my new journey.
