Pros

Many opportunities to work in various fields, engineering, marketing, sales, product support etc. in addition to typical support roles such as IT, HR, medical etc. Good pay, great company history of creating products the world absolutely needs, stable management, promotions from within the company. I would want my children to work at Catepillar.

Cons

Career development for the majority of people is left entirely up to the individual employee. I wish the company took a bigger role in using and developing my strengths.

Pros

Can move all over the world. Around 80% of the employee's at CAT will retire in the next 15 years. With 100,000+ employees, there is a huge opportunity for advancement quickly.

Cons

A lot of "old time" manager's and the "good ole boys club". There is an unsaid understanding that you are expected to work 10 hours a day or more once you are in management. Some facilities will pay for the extra work, some will not.
