Pros

getting cars at a discount to flip getting the knowledge in the buying office to know what car is worth buying so that u can flip it quick one hour lunch break drinking gatorade in the lunch room as a buyer in training, u are considered a 'manager' although it's just a nominal title you get the skills to negotiate at other car dealerships by showcasing your knowledge of manheim and black books

Cons

management is very petty people go out of their way to 'coach' you for things that are nonsense, they think it will make them look a leader every procedure is scripted and standardized, the more robotic you are the higher the chance that you have of getting promoted interviews sucked. When you start work, they put a premium on you being on time but the hypocrisy shines through when they are doing the interviews. Everyone was late, and the interview dragged out due to disorganization. if you get short-term disabled then they will not take care of you. I hurt my back and didn't get any short-term disability pay even though I was initially told i would.

Pros

There was a time when you could make a decent salary....key point, there WAS a time.

Cons

Management is pathetic. That includes sales managers, LGMs, all the way up to the top. They roll out training after training after training after training all of which you are required to attend while it takes you away from being able to sell vehicles. Oh, and you are not paid for these mandatory training's and meetings even though you are commissioned and can't make money while you're sitting in some meeting room for a couple of hours a week.. If you complain, they will find a reason to "coach" you on something you're not doing. The LGM at my particular store is nothing more than a communist dictator. He treats his sales managers and sales associates like garbage. In turn, the sales managers treat the sales people like garbage also. Management doesn't respect you at this company. They look down upon you.

Pros

Customers love the concept and you will meet a lot of Great Customers and Fellow Team Members. You as a team member will love the concept until you meet the LGM management.

Cons

The location LGM is the person that is supposed to lead with the company values but when they come in at 10AM or later and blow out the door at 4pm it's kind of hard to run your location. Also when the LGM is there they just raise havoc for the location team that is trying to deliver the best possible experience to the customers. The Company touts the fact that they have been voted the Best Place to Work by Fortune 500. I am not sure what they are looking at because they must not have talked to the team members in the locations, so this must be a nice to have sell job by corporate to make the company look better. When team members are made to feel bad or pressured because they need time off for illness or family needs this is not comfortable for the team member and those that have to work around them. When a person becomes ill at work and the LGM says “you can’t leave until you do this, this, and this before you go home or to the doctor it makes a statement that can be missed which is “we don’t care about you until we have gotten the work we need out of you for the day!” Add to all of the above that you are outside in all kinds of weather also you better have a note to from your doctor to let you off the snow removal team or you will find yourself disciplined for not being a team player.
