Pros

A lot of great people, non-managerial employees enjoy work and have fun, learn a lot about cars (makes, models, trim levels, etc.) Great job for college students looking to make decent money and work part-time, opportunities for advancement are available (but lead to nothing). Benefits are good.

Cons

AVOID ANY ADVANCEMENT INTO MANAGEMENT! Management is a complete mess, everyone micro-managing each other, extremely stressful and pay is based on what you made prior and you receive a very small increase in pay when you are "promoted". Half the day is spent in meetings that are a waste and take away from valuable time that could be spent training associates and helping customers. CARMAX IS RUN LIKE A TYPICAL BIG BOX RETAILER. Every department is run poorly and inefficiently. People are fired for ridiculous reasons, things that aren't their fault because they literally turn any issue into a corporate investigation. Nothing is handled on a store level by the 15+ managers that are there everyday. Looking back, it's ridiculous and I can't believe I worked there as long as I did!

Pros

Better than Mc Donalds and if in Mc Donalds you could make a decent salarary it would probably be a better place to work than Carmax Miami

Cons

Sales Consultants are at the bottom of the pit. We get no respect at all from LGM and from most of the managers. Do not voice any critisism because you will be placed in a Black List and eventually will find any error by which you will be converted in to a customer as they usually tell us. If it takes you 2 days to sell a car at a $150 commission per car and later the customer returns the car for a malfuntion you will loose the comission and you will have been working for free.

Pros

If you work hard you really make a decent money.

Cons

Managment is very bad. From LGM, some buyers and most of the Sales Managers the make you feel like you are in jail.Every meeting is a nightmare, instead of giving you a good feedback because your performance the treat you like you are last person that makes the company be in good standing. And at the end of any meeting they remind you that you will became a customer at any time.....very sad place to work!
