Pros

Great people. Friendly. They’re the only reason I have lasted as long as I can. My coworkers are awesome.

Cons

No money to be made. Lots of favoritism. You’re basically a sheep who is given what they call “constant feedback” but you’re not allowed to express your opinion. If you go to HR the managers scold you. Communication between managers and departments is awful. Also they say they’re in the “Top 100 employers.” They pay for this designation. It’s a membership they buy and they’re only compared against other companies that buy the membership. So they’re the top 100 in their “club.” Not in the USA.

Pros

Does not micromanage, relatively easy going atmosphere

Cons

Since I have been with carmax, approx 5 months, I have seen 10 people leave...some new hires who realized there really isn’t a good opportunity to make decent money and some veterans as well. Managers give you different answers to your questions and are on their cell phones all day. Business office people come and go. I have never seen such turnaround in a company.
