Better support resources

Pros

- strong coaching & mentorship structure, coaches genuinely interested in developing junior resources - structured associate onboarding process centralized in NY

Cons

- mis-staffing and lack of transparency upfront about role expectations - lack of support and communication from HR - junior resources can get isolated on "lone-wolf" projects or without team members in accessible time zones

Capco Response

Thank you for your favourable feedback on the firm, in particular our commitment to development of our people and our onboarding provisions. Your comments on mis-staffing are disappointing and thankfully, unusual. It is in the interests of both the firm and staff to match projects and capabilities effectively so we deliver exemplary service to clients and fulfil your potential at work. Given this shared objective (and in the context of an open and inclusive culture in Capco), I encourage you to have a conversation about the expectations of the role and any feelings of isolation from teammates with your project manager, coach or HR Business Partner. I can assure you that your feedback will be taken very seriously and we will seek to make improvements.

Pros

A lot of freedom given. Once you know your way around it can be very efficient. Most people are very nice and have similar incentives. A lot of extracurricular activities available if you want it. An increasing amount of benefits and focus on mental health. It's not perfect, but I do believe it's getting better every year (it's my 12th year) and I believe that we can continue to get better as an organization. We have amazing people throughout the organization. It feels like we are recruiting better and better talent every year and have more people coming up through the ranks.

Cons

Sometimes inefficient in sharing information despite many attempts at centralizing information. Could be better in global collaboration but that is massively improved in the last 24 months. Communication is not always perfect despite good intentions.

Pros

Capco is a place where you get to really control your own growth. It may take a few months to find that network of support but once you find it, you're mostly trusted to run with your ideas. The "flat" nature of the company allows for this type of personal growth. Being able to interact with senior and mid level leadership obviously is good for visibility, but I've personally found it to be amazing for personal growth. The senior and mid-level leaders I've interacted with have all challenged the way I've thought and I really appreciate the time they've put into teaching/encouraging me to learn. What you put into it, is what you'll get out for the most part. Like any company, it'll take you a little bit to find a group of people who will support you. It took me 2 months before I really found those people who I felt were genuinely interested in my growth and encouraged it. Once I did, they introduced me to their mentors and it's a domino effect from there. Be patient and you'll find those people. (Please note: this doesn't mean there are very few "good eggs" at Capco, I just mean that it may take some time to find those you "click with" which I think is natural at any company) There are a lot of different opportunities to get involved with the community. If there's something you want to change about the culture, there are plenty of people who will listen to your ideas of how you want to improve it. I truly enjoy the relationships I've built and I know that these friendships will last outside of Capco. There are a lot of really caring and genuine people here.

Cons

I think the "cons" are pretty normal for consulting firms: hours, type of work/project, politics. I don't feel that Capco is doing anything particularly wrong, it's just the nature of the business.
