Pros

What is great about Capco is the people. Everyone is friendly and fits well together. Capco took the entire north american region to puerto rico as part of the regional employee forum (REF) . The experience was phenomenal. I learned that it was not just my team that had great people, but the entire organization. What differentiates Capco is the innovative, forward thinking, and entrepreneurial talent. Capco continues to grow because they are doing something right, investing in their people. If you want to have colleagues that genuinely care about helping you succeed, then you should look to Capco. No matter what your job is, if the people around you are not great, then you will not want to do great work. Capco people are the reason I go to work in the morning; they work hard and bring positive energy to the work environment. Capco is a very flat organization. Unlike the hierarchies that exist in most big consulting firms, senior management is very engaged with its people. Networking is encouraged in the organization. The medium size appeal of Capco is great. Capco is not small enough where the company could fail, but not so big as that your job could be consolidated. You can navigate your career and actually be recognized in the firm instead of being lost amongst the masses. Great associate training program. The focus on learning is what drew me to Capco. Capco wants to make you a better consultant and provides opportunities to grow.

Cons

Capco is only financial services. Depending on the project, work/life balance can be difficult if you are traveling a lot.

Pros

Did some industry relevant work at two tier 1 clients over the course of about 2 years. Met some great people who cared both about me personally and professionally. Enjoyed working for a company with peers rather than being stuck in industry reporting to my elders. Received my first professional promotion, didn't have to leave the company to get a promotion. Work life balance is pretty dependent on client, I saw both sides of that. Was staffed on one of the Change Source projects, and found it to be pretty interesting work. Was reporting to head of project management at a tier 1 bank and had the ear of multiple SVP's in the same role. Can't speak to the Change Sourcing deals at the other client sites, but my experience was positive. If nothing else, I'm far more marketable now than I was back when I joined. For someone a couple years out of school, with entry level experience, and no idea what you want to do... joining Capco can be a fairly lucrative career move. BUT...

Cons

It was not a lucrative while I was there. Standard rate for incoming Associates is decent for an entry level role, unfortunately, the carrot dangled in front of the associates is the promotion to Consultant. Which, in my experience was still not lucrative enough for the effort and passion an invested employee puts in both at the client site and internally at Capco. As read above, was my first real promotion, and I was grateful for it, but it was not enough to keep me from listening to other offers. I said while I was at Capco, I was 75-85% satisfied at any given point in time with the company, but out of that 15-25% dissatisfaction, 90% of my dissatisfaction was financial. I felt borderline encouraged to go out to the market to find my "market value". As an employee, I didn't like taking recruiter calls, didn't like interviewing with other firms after work days, but I always felt like I should (at least 2-3 times a year). One doesn't feel loyal in that scenario, and you start focusing on things outside of work, rather than what should be your number 1 priority. Situation drained me, know my peers face the same struggle. SO...

Pros

Good people at the team leader level, and I do believe that upper management is legitimately trying to turn Capco into a good place to work, but it's just not working.

Cons

Unfortunately, the Cons are many. -This firm is the definition of having to kiss some rear ends to get ahead. Your merit as a value add is always overshadowed by how much the partners know/like you. This results in alot of schmoozing required to get ahead. -Long hours, not great pay. -There is an almost high-school level of bullying that exists between seniors and associates. I was mid level, but I literally watched seniors ask associates to get them coffee, or steal food from their plate. Completely immature. -HR is completely disorganized. They are quick to hire, but can't even schedule your induction correctly. -Focus is entirely on sales at the upper levels, and the responsibility of a firm to advance the career of their lower level works is lost. This results in a very exploitative relationship with new hires
