Pros

Wider business and senior leaders are really engaged in recruitment and the value it adds to the business. Those hiring for teams are well versed in what is expected of them when it comes to interviewing and feedback time frames for example. Great opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders and impact at a senior level. Some genuine nice people working in the organisation with many seeming happy to help and provide guidance.

Cons

Management of the recruitment team feels autocratic and communication from the top is poor. Work/Life balance needs addressing and has created a 'them and us' feeling within the wider team. Ability to work from home and flexibility tends to be down to seniority and/or depth of personal relationship. Lacks any degree of consistency. Communication style of management was often aggressive and lacked empathy. At times I was shocked at how team members were spoken to and treated.

We are pleased to read that you enjoyed many aspects of working at Capco. We take all feedback seriously and while we don’t recognize all of the points that you raise, we would like to share examples of steps taken based on employee feedback to continually enhance the team environment. At the end of last year, we introduced bi-weekly sessions with the business to facilitate team learning. Team members select topics they would like to learn more about and invite members of the business to present on these. We also introduced flexible working for the team to enable everyone to manage their own time effectively. If a team member has concerns at any time, then we would encourage them to raise this in their weekly 1:1 meeting with their manager or with our UK HR Lead, Neil Hunsworth or Global HR Lead, David Heffernan. There are lots of internal channels for employees to share their ideas, concerns and feedback at Capco.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to read that you enjoy many of the great things about working at Capco including our employee benefits and frequent opportunities to network with your colleagues. As a firm, we always strive to be transparent in our processes and communications and the size of our firm helps to limit bureaucracy. It's difficult to comment fully without understanding your specific concerns, however we would strongly encourage you to raise these with a member of the leadership or HR team.

Good for making money, but culture needs work

Pros

- Great benefits - Compensation can be really good to - Free coffee, some times lunches - Potential to learn and grow - Very interesting and fast paced projects

Cons

- Favouritism is rampant. - There's an "inner circle". You are either part of it or outside it and feel left out. - Infrastructure in the Toronto office needs a lot of work. They really need more space. The office is overcrowded. - Very similar to a college campus non-professional atmosphere all the time. - Loud chatting and gossiping is not just accepted, but encouraged. - Professionalism is lacking a LOT. - Work life balance can be bad at times, and you can be expected to work weekends, although not very often.

Thanks for your positive feedback on compensation, benefits, career development and quality of work. It is good to hear that we are translating our rapid growth in Canada into a positive experience and proposition for our people. In response to other feedback, we have already taken steps to promote a more inclusive culture to help all employees to fulfill their potential at Capco. A special ‘people project’, made up of staff representatives, has been established to make recommendations on how we can further improve our culture and our leaders have committed to respond positively to proposals. I strongly encourage you to contact your representatives and put forward the changes you want to see. Infrastructure and office space is always a challenge in a firm that is growing so quickly. It is currently exacerbated by a number of client project areas in the office which places additional pressure on space. We are committed to providing a work environment that is comfortable and conducive to learning, teaming and fosters the collaboration and innovative solutions that create value for clients. We are currently investigating options to increase space. Any specific points of feedback to improve the workspace, particularly around respect for others, should also be relayed to your coach/manager or to the people project. Finally, whilst a high quality client service necessitates a degree of flexibility when it comes to working patterns in consulting, we always look to promote innovative and reciprocal flexible working arrangements. If you are required to work long hours or weekends on occasion, you should discuss this with your manager and agree a pattern or arrangement which suits the demands of your role and your personal circumstances.
