Pros

If you are lucky enough to work with one of the remaining talented consultants that has not left the firm yet (only a few are left), one can truly develop themselves and have a good experience.

Cons

Once a respected firm committed to the financial services industry, Capco has decided to exit the management consulting market and enter the temporary services industry as a low-cost provider of bodies to banks and whoever is in need of cheap labor. The firm’s leadership still markets the company to potential applicants as a place where innovation and meritocracy are fostered. While this may have been true of the old firm, in reality, Capco is continuing to drive its costs down by neglecting talent and scraping up the desperate and gullible for the associate and consultant pools.

Awful company

Pros

- They give you decent laptops and smartphones - Number of annual leaves

Cons

It's hard to find words to explain how bad this company is. - They try to cheat you on the salary. When I was recruited, the salary was below my expectations. The recruiter told me that it was possible to get "a fast promotion". What a fake promise. Needless to say that after I started working for Capco, a promotion was never mentioned again. Even the salary increases were abnormally low (less than 1% per year), despite being on project and billable for Capco. - Capco is not a consulting firm. It's a bodyshop for HSBC, with an extra-thick layer of marketing BS to make it look like a consulting firm. You will be sold to HSBC to fill in the least interesting roles in HSBC (the roles for which they find nobody). You will stay there until HSBC doesn't need you anymore, and after that Capco will fire you. - Most projects are messy, because the Capco managers sell messy projects to make their sales numbers, and Capco just cares about sales numbers and doesn't really care about delivery quality. - Many Capco managers have no people management skills. They have been appointed just because they have certain relationships or because they are good at boot licking. - You will be constantly flooded by emails, messages, mandatory trainings, asks and requests from both HSBC and Capco. - In addition to your client project, Capco asks you to work and participate in Community Activities (ie internal projects and initiatives). It is true that this is an opportunity to meet and connect with your Capco colleagues, but unfortunately 90% of these projects are BS. People launch superficial initiatives to promote themselves and lick the boots of Capco leadership. - Capco APAC leaders say that the company is growing by +30%, but Capco has been firing lots of consultants in 2023, so I don't think the company is doing well now. - Performance reviews and promotions are BS. All based on relationships and boot licking.

We are very disappointed to read your perspective of Capco. We regularly undertake a salary benchmarking exercise to ensure that the compensation we offer is in line with the market to attract and retain the best talent. We also run twice-yearly promotion cycles, so if an employee meets the promotion criteria, they can be put forward for consideration for promotion to the next level. Lots of employees opt to get involved in Community activity at Capco which is an opportunity for them to follow a passion and develop skills and knowledge in an area they may not typically encounter in their day-to-day role, for example, our diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda or learning and development activities. A specific percentage of the overall performance assessment is directly linked to Community, which ensures that where an individual has made a contribution, this is recognized and rewarded. However, the majority of the performance assessment is always weighted towards performance in the individual’s core role. As a people business, we care deeply about our people, and our Be Yourself At Work culture is about creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential. This extends to the work that we undertake and the resourcing of projects as our goal is always to offer interesting roles aligned to an individual’s career aspirations. As a leading global technology and management consultancy, Capco has a portfolio of prestigious clients and projects right across the financial services sector and, in the APAC region, our client portfolio has never been wider. Our consultants are involved in delivering end-to-end data-driven solutions and digital initiatives for banking and payments, capital markets, wealth and asset management, insurance, and the energy sector. The demand for consulting services did moderate somewhat due to the economic climate, which unfortunately resulted in us parting company with a number of employees on the bench in HK. However, the outlook for our APAC business is healthy, and as you may have heard at the January Town Hall, there are exciting growth plans in place for the region in FY25. If you would like to discuss your feedback further, or seek support with your career development at Capco, you are encouraged to reach out to your HR Business Partner or Coach.

Pros

It was great company before UK Partners & good management under them quit when APAC Partner (from India) decided to come back and run the HK office. UK Partners tried to change the culture from a body shop to established consultancy but got pushed out by APAC partner, so back to way it was. If you don't mind being treated like human cattle then this is the place to work.

Cons

You will not be appreciated for your work Not run like a established business - no established HR, no useful training Workplace bullying from new management I have never written one of these before, but the bullying here has had me in tears so thought it was good to tell others how bad it is since new Partner arrived.

Leadership changes (and the uncertainty that accompanies them) are difficult for any business and are rarely undertaken lightly. Certainly in this case, Capco’s leadership team was faced with a pressing need for change in Hong Kong to put in place leadership that could help the business grow, become more efficient and effective, and take full advantage of the business opportunities available in a difficult market. In the short term, this has clearly resulted in a more operational focus as we look to improve performance and return to growth. We anticipate that this will also result in more secure employment and more opportunity for development/progression for our people. We remain committed to building an open and engaging culture in which everyone can maximise contribution and fulfill their potential. The new leaders have a demanding challenge ahead but they have made a promising start with your support and we are confident of further improvement. We encourage everyone to support them with your commitment, engagement and hard work so we realise our joint goal of a successful and sustainable business in which we can all share.
