Pros

Flexible Work Life Balance Good social atmosphere with co-workers Good pension benefits

Cons

- Terrible Pay rises. They are practically none existent, if you get a job here, make sure the staring pay is high. You will have it for a long time. - No support for employees. Training is non existent, switching project can take over a year, and nobody listens to any employee asking to change their work. - Manager Politics. Half these managers aren't necessary. They seem to exist from a company hierarchy from the 1960s where someone needed to play the foreman and watch the brick layers for a living. Nevertheless they are the only means for employees to move project, advance, and get training. The manipulation they use on employees with these strings is mortifying. - Projects that don't advance your abilities or give you skills you can use elsewhere. - Generally poor benefits compared to other companies.

Pros

Like many other smaller businesses, CGI bought our original consulting company and absorbed us. I have not found any pros from this company in the past two years. On the contrary, it's the opposite. Time to move on like the rest of my coworkers.

Cons

Before CGI bought our original company, we were a very happy group working together in Wausau. There were definitely some favorites among us but those that weren't, still enjoyed coming to the office everyday. We had a very engaged director and most of our management was very good. We felt valued and like we mattered. We had little perks from the company like egg rolls or popcorn every week. It's small but it counts. We had various committees and we would rotate out so everyone had a chance, if they chose, to bring ideas to the table. Since CGI absorbed us, we had our popcorn and egg rolls taken away without a word to us. Our committees are gone. The company dismissed our director, supposedly because he didn't fit "the model". We fear for our jobs once our contracts are up with our clients which means we can be given as little as two weeks to find another client or we are dismissed. The trust is completing gone with upper management. They don't tell us anything. If we ask questions, it's the typical, I'll find out and let you know. Letting us know without a roundabout answer is fun. We just received a new director, after almost one year without and this guy has no idea. He doesn't know us nor has he tried. He has walked past me personally a dozen times and has yet to say hello. I have been making it a point to notice this before leaving my review to be fair towards him. He is just like our other higher up who very seldom comes here and acts like a clown. I have no trust in this guy so I don't even want to say hello first. It's unfortunate that we can't expect more support from our company. All of my coworkers are leaving for a $20,000 to $50,000 increase in pay and I CBS yet to hear from the company about any concern. Most of us feel like this company didn't want us, they just wanted to cut out another competitor and take the customers.

Pros

- It pays a salary (albeit a low one). Decent pension scheme. - Parking available on-site. - Good experience for apprentices and graduates. - Staff canteen. - Some good colleagues (as well as the backstabbing ones).

Cons

- Bad work life balance. Meetings often start before 9am or after 5pm. - Working from home frowned on and rarely possible for managers. - Salaries for managers are well below market rates. - Little chance of any bonus and when you do get one it's paltry - 1 or 2%. - Stressful, 'hot house' atmosphere, blame culture prevalent. - Senior managers micromanage everything and make middle managers to do likewise. - Cost cutting everywhere, expenses scrutinised for every little detail. - Contract staff often in critical roles because CGI will not pay decent salaries for permanent people. - Few staff benefits: just a salary, pension and a share saving scheme that you have to pay for if you want it. - Insanely complicated internal processes. Heath Robinsonesque methods for accessing various applications and environments. - Reading office is old and not very clean. Insufficient and dirty toilets. Old, low quality desks and chairs.
