      Pros

      I enjoyed the social committee and activities available to interact with peers. Softball, skiing, various sporting and community activities were offered

      Cons

      Limited number of clients. Moderate footprint in the Edmonton and Calgary area. Second Tier service and personnel but a good place to cut your teeth.

      Very flexible with work life balance, and projects can be interesting; generally the people you work with are collegial

      Cons

      Minimal opportunities for advancement; projects are long, multi-year engagements and it can be difficult to switch roles or projects if an opportunity arises

      Not a hardware vendor - pure play. Opportunity to work in Systems Integration & Consulting as well as Managed Application Services.

      Cons

      CGI is very immediate customer needs focused. Which has many advantages that are obvious and well articulated by management. One consequence for those passionate about technology is that until a client expresses interest in a particular area; don't expect to have time/funding to perform research, get training or do proof-of-concept work on emerging technology. You are expected to do this on your own and on your own time. Unfortunately most of your colleagues will not perform this personal development on their own time and you will find yourself periodically surrounded by '9 to 5 programmers' who still think cron jobs and shell scripts are the best way to orchestrate business processes.
