Pros

there are none im afraid

Cons

The work staff bully people, I have seen people being shouted out for no reason and others just sit there while younger members of the team are abused and constantly made to feel like nothing. They degrade assistants and laugh at them when they don't speak loud enough or when they say something they do not agree with. The atmosphere is toxic. One lady had a 20 min rant about how another person wasn't doing what she wanted them to do. A difference of opinion in the work place is not uncommon, but to sit and slate an employee for 20 mins is terrible.

A company worth fighting for

Pros

AP is hands down one of the most ethical and earnest newsrooms in the current landscape. You don't have to look hard to find staff wholeheartedly serving the mission of bringing truth to the world. We have an incredible legacy, unmatched and unique.

Cons

Mediocre and uninspired management, especially on the business, products and tech side. Change comes very slow. AP is behind the times in technology and digital platforms, both client facing and public facing. Many of these platforms barely function, making it nearly impossible to find and get our content. I am not sure what is worse...that no one seems to be able to fix these failed platforms or that no one notices or cares to do a thing about it. It's excuse after excuse, year after year. Why do the people in charge of these areas keep their jobs, and create the new platforms that are sure to be subpar?

Pros

Colleagues and teammates around the world, co-workers who are inspired to do great work. This isn't a great time to get into journalism, but if you want to make a difference, and see your work in papers and on websites across the state (or nation), there's no better place than AP.

Cons

For a communications company, its management is terrible at internal communication. The execs probably have a long-term plan but it seems the employees are the last to learn it. Every bureau is painfully understaffed but management fails to explain, even when asked directly at all-hands meetings, what its plan is to provide and distribute more resources.
