Pros

Great people. Fascinating company with a rich history, noble mission and complex challenges. The oldest and largest news agency in the world, the company is at a crossroads. It is interesting time to work for one of the few news companies out there that is exanding.

Cons

While making changes for the better the company remains is an awkward position, balancing its commitment to its members with its own self interest. Working toward these conflicting goals can be difficult and at times frustrating.

Pros

Great brand, employees take great pride in their work, most people are friendly and content, fair and balanced reporting culture, great office (NY) with spectacular views, an open-air basketball court on the 16th floor, gym inside office, easy commute to Penn station from almost anywhere, best work environment to keep yourself abreast of breaking news from around the world, fantastic journalists and dedicated cameramen who share experiences, corporate bigwigs share their vision, plans and goals in an honest, open manner and regular townhall-style meetings help them announce new ventures and changes and take questions from employees, good salary compared to the market, ability and ease of moving to other teams within the company.

Cons

Not a very diverse workplace especially the top management, the HR division is very non-responsive and doesn't deal promptly and efficiently with management issues, HR violations etc. Bad management doesn't get checked or moved out, very non-confrontational HR policies which leads to many disgruntled employees. Things take forever to get processed or approved as too much paperwork/bureaucracy involved.
