Pros

For the Sophia Antipolis office: - French Riviera - Alps - nice offices

Cons

Technology: - old technology - poor C++ code quality - in-house middleware stack - poor internal tools - no willingness to change Careers and perks: - promotions based on french "grandes ecoles" (top universities). - you are not promoted if you are a strong developer either. work, talent and meritocracy are not part of the Amadeus vocabulary - bonuses and other financial perks dramatically decreased since 2007, making it even less attractive to join - below average pay rises for senior developers. the excuse is to favour younger ones. so basically, senior devs are not encouraged to stay. - if you are a senior, don't get enchanted by the big salary they offer you to join. they will surely not give you a decent pay rise the year after. that's what happened to senior dev friends that joined - and of course, totally absent HR

Pros

Interesting products, you can learn a lot. If you are French from Grand École you can have a very quick career development, regardless the results you will present

Cons

The workload is very different among the different departments, some are overloaded, in others people are looking movies during workn hours... Poor management, there is no reward for the results provided. Career development is just for French people or friends of other manager: if you are not in these categories you will be just their slave. No ethics: people are hired with different positions than the ones discussed during the interview. Contractors are pushed to work harder for being hired, but this is never happening

Pros

It's always sunny on the French Riviera and work culture is very relaxed. Also it's possible to meet there a few truly nice people, but really just a few.

Cons

This company is full of secretive liars and backstabbers. I've worked for corporations before, but at Amadeus it was a whole new level! It was a boring corporate C++ coding job with crappy life-sucking corporate tools, crappy complex code, bureaucracy and everything. Salarywise it was slightly below average, good for students maybe but after 3 years I'd expect a bit more. Some like it there, but I hated every day on the Riviera. It's dull, it's old, it's dirty, it's messy, it's small townish, it attracts very pretentious types, and I could meet only Amadeus people and a few expats. And most of all - it's very very dull!
