the job description that I applied to and got selected was IT related but the team that I joined was a some record keeping and doc control (more clerical).
there was one aspect of the role that was IT related but not all of it.(which accounted for <40% of the role)
the hiring manager retired and the replacement manager although realized the need for the role but decided on molding me into her area of expertise.
She had a dislike for me from the beginning very evident in the way she picked on me, she even gave me partial achieved performance review just 5 months into the job.
Her mocking at my IT specific skills proved that she didn't take time to know my background and also her knowledge in the subject.
She always took sides with the other team member, wonder if it was because I was a person of color. Although there is HR related course on unconscious bias, diversity and stuff, you could definitely see a shift in behavior if you are white. There is a diversity program but no inclusion and equity.
Also got to experience some uncivil behavior from manager of manufacturing, he would send emails that bad mouthed you and make it appear like an oopsy.
I guess Abbott should invest in some behavioral and team building workshops, as from my experience they are very unprofessional and unpolished warehouse like environment.
I do thank the manager for creating a hostile environment, if not for her I wouldn't have been forced look outside of Abbott and be in a much better state of bliss.
