Interview
applied online through Reed Employment. got a telephone interview first. didn't realise that it was actually an interview. then was invited for a face to face interview. found the interviewer didn't really pay much attention to what I knew about waitrose but was more interested in my main interest art.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Waitrose (Eastbourne, Angleterre) in Jul 2010
Interview
The online application process was fairly straightforward and clear. I was very impressed with the benefits offered by the John Lewis Partnership. The interview consisted of, firstly, a group interview and then a few days later a 1:1 interview. The group interview was about 2 hours and consisted of a few ice-breakers, group work on customer service and expectations of the job and information about roles available and benefits of working for the partnership. The 1:1 consisted of a half hour chat about my performance in the group interview and what position I would consider. It was a very friendly environment and the benefits of the job are very impressive and quite possibly unmatched by any other retailer.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose in Aug 2008
Interview
I filled in the application for my first part time job, sent it off and had a phone call about a week or so later asking me to come in for a group interview at a recruitment agency (it was for a brand new store so wasn't finished yet would normally be held instore). Went to the group interview from what I can remember there were about 10 other people, we had to do a short introduction of ourselves, what we did, and what was our greatest achievement. We then had to split up into pairs and try and do a sales pitch for a product. I got called back for a one on one interview which was just to discuss what area of the shop I might want to work, and what kind of hours I could work etc. I got the job and worked within two different Waitrose stores over a 4 year period. All I would say is to speak up and stand out as with any interview if you don't make an impression you wont be noticed.
