I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber
Interview
I was contacted by Uber recruiters stating that I was referred for the position. The recruiter scheduled a phone interview via email, and then changed the time 20 minutes before the interview. Unlike the other Operations Coordinator interviews I reviewed on Glassdoor, I never received any type of assessment which was actually later brought up in my final interview. Anyways, the recruiter called me at a later time that we agreed upon, and a few days later I was informed that I had made it to the next step - an interview with the hiring manager. Multiple recruiters worked with me to schedule a time (scheduling seemed very uncoordinated) and we finally agreed on a time that worked for both of us. I was contacted and told that we would have to reschedule AGAIN, and the only time the manager was available in a two and a half week period was a 4 hour block that I was unavailable. Very frustrating. I, of course, had to make that interview time work, and was once again forwarded to the final interview which was on site. One thing that was extremely frustrating throughout the whole process was that I had to contact the recruiters to find out where I was in this process. Once I contacted them, I received an update a few days later to notify me that I had made it to the next step. Again, super frustrating and it seemed like they weren't really doing their part on their end.
Moving on - both recruiters that I was working with gave me the wrong address of the interview location. So I showed up to my interview early in the suite I was told and waited around for the hiring team to show up. No show. I emailed the recruiters (they did not provide me with any phone numbers) and luckily enough one called me (the other emailed me) and informed me that the team had moved buildings. Great! I was 15 minutes late to an interview that I had shown up early to, which made me flustered and of course made me look unprofessional, although it was entirely the recruiters fault.
The final interview at that point consisted of questions that the interviewers claimed "they wouldn't even know how to answer" - great. I met with two people at first, then had a second meeting with two other interviewers. The team seemed pretty unenthusiastic about interviewing me which is likely attributed to the lateness factor. Lots of standard questions, but they seemed to keep asking me a lot of the same questions over and over. Kind of odd for a two hour interview.
Once again, I had to contact the recruiter to find out progress on a final decision. She informed me a few days after I contacted her (1 week after my final interview) that I didn't get the job. I was pretty bummed since I felt like I had done a good job throughout the process and I was overqualified for the position. Still pretty upset about the recruiters giving me the wrong address - how would they not know where their team is located?
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why Uber? What did I like most about the app? My best experience on a ride? How to increase driver retention? How to deal with surge pricing on the driver side? What is one thing Uber hasn't thought of that would ensure drivers stay with Uber?
Changed the team I was interviewing with 3 times. Had to do excel test, phone screen, Skype, and in person interview. Process took 2 months. Recruiter was really nice but would send emails at odd hours of the day (10 PM on business day). Overall positive experience but no offer
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (Paris) in Jul 2015
Interview
Applied online with a resume.
I received after some days an analytical test, containing 32 questions (Excel, data + Vlookup).
Apparently the test was good as I was offered an interview at Uber's offices.
Went for the first interview with 2 managers. 30 minutes to prepare on something which may take around 10, don't think too far / too much they just want a raw estimation, just be yourself.
One week later I received a positive response and was invited for another interview, with a Director of Operations.
The interview was 1h30 long, planed beforehand. It was really focused on data, providing analysis and revolving around business model etc.
Unfortunately I did miss some point there and badly managed the final part of the interview.
Was told 2 days later that they will not go further this time, let's try it again in some months!
One thing which is a not really cool: after a 3 weeks+ long interview process, no feedback was provided about the reason of the final decision.
All the people I met were really nice!
