I applied through college or university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Trane Technologies
Interview
1-CV
2-45/60 mins phone interview (mine was 80 mins, don't know why..) usual HR's questions! Surprisingly I was asked about my salary expectations.. I didn't know what to say, but then I discovered salary is bit more than 2k net
3- 30 mins technical interview.. There were no technical questions at all: they just wanted to know where I would have liked to work and if I knew what I was saying.. Very easy! Show your motivations!!
4- SLC online tests: 1 numerical, 2 logic, 3&4 motivation and psychological.. Not that easy but absolutely not impossible..
5- 1 Day assessment in Brussels.. Watch out, this is the tough part! They ask you to prepare a business case all by yourself during the night before : as you check in at the hotel they give you the material to work on.. Then you ll have to make a presentation that you'll be asked to present the day after in 10 mins to 4/5 evaluators.. My suggestion is just to be very strong and believe in what you are saying, the solution of the case is relatively important ! Stay positive and answer all the questions with determination and even if you are making up everything make them believe you thought about everything, don't panic nor stall..
Then there is also a group discussion on a case but is pretty easy, don't freak out.
Finally a 1h structured interview, 3 against 1:they ask a lot of details..

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Trane Technologies in Mar 2011
Interview
I applied for the job online at their company website. I actually applied for three of their jobs and I only recieved a call about one of them. A few weeks later a human resources employee called to set up a phone screening the following day. The phone screening was with two individuals, one a quality leader, and another engineer. I was pleased with their attitudes, and thought I did well since I tried to research about their company beforehand. Two days later I recieved a call from the same employee who set up the phone screening and they offered me the position.

Overall, the process was very good. Ingersoll Rand was very gracious and generous with travel and accommodations. The interview process was rigorous but fair. Ingersoll Rand is a top notch company looking for top notch people and that came across in the process.
