The hiring process at T-Mobile takes an average of 14 days when considering 2 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Customer Experience Intern had the quickest hiring process (on average 14 days), whereas Customer Experience Intern roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 14 days).
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at T-Mobile in Jan 2009
Interview
I was very impressed with the interview process when I was communicating with the HR contacts in advance of the in-person interview, they were professional, helpful and very quick to reply to emails.
The in-person interview was interesting. I met separately with four different people, for about 45 minutes with each person. I only felt one of them was actually skilled at how to conduct an interview and asses a candidate's skills. One of the interviewers spent the majority of our time together talking about their previous jobs and what they did/didn't like about them. This had no bearing on the position I was interviewing for or the company, I found it very odd.
Overall, I think this is a great company, but I think their staff could use a quick course on "how to conduct a job interview."
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at T-Mobile (Portland, OR) in May 2009
Interview
Most (all) T-Mobile positions can be found online, www.tmobile.com/careers. Expect a call in 1-2 weeks after applying (if your qualifications and skills fits the criteria) for a possible in-store interview. Initially I had a phone interview. The purpose of this is to screen out applicants.
Some phone interviewing techniques: show enthusiasm, make sure there are no background noise, avoid salary discussions, do not smoke or chew gum, most importantly, be prepared.
The phone interview questions I had are:
Tell me more about you. Why do you want to work here? And, what makes you qualified for the position.
I was scheduled for an in-store interview. The in-store interview in my opinion was a little more difficult because there were more questions regarding your past experiences.
The questions I had are:
Describe a situation you had dealing with conflicts.
Give an example of going the extra yard.
Explain a problem you had working in a group.
Explain a problem you had dealing with a conflicted, demanding customer.
Those are some of the questions that I had. Of course, each questions should be clearly detailed, explain why it's a problem, the steps you took, and lastly, the result of your actions.
Right after the first in-store interview, the Retail Store Manager set me up for a second interview.
Luckily for me, the second in-store interview was with a different Retail Store Manager and I was asked the same questions.
Finally, I am at the stage right now where I have to wait for the background check to come through.
Good luck applicants!
