This interview is one of the worst ones I've had in my career, I'm somehow convinced the job posting is a ghost ad for a non-existent role, and the department is merely shopping for design input with their take home assignments. The interview was in Oct 2025. It is now Jan 2026 and the job was reposted a few times since then. I had a 3-panel interview, suspiciously all were Directors of the Department, Kitty Choo, Joanne Chia, Yichi Zhang. All based in Singapore.
From the first phonecall with their HR, the gist was they insist that I complete the online assessment, seemingly so that it's out of the way, so they can set up an interview ASAP. They would make a call everyday, insisting I hurry up.
The interview itself feels really scripted, definitely not a 2-way conversation. They would steer the conversation straight into my work, asking me to present my portfolio. It got to a point in the interview where as a candidate, I had to stop and ask for basic clarification of the role and it's responsibilities, (the job description is absolutely generic) because there was no introduction on their end. The 'clarification' was unhelpful, and if you're in corporate long enough, you would know when someone is intentionally not being straight with their answer.
There was a time in the 2nd interview after I've completed the take home assignment, that one of the interviewers was late in joining and had missed a portion of my presentation. at the end, she barraged me on the parts of my work she missed, asking 'where is it, etc" and none of her peers stopped to tell her that she was mistaken. When I point it out, she didn't apologised and just laughed it off.
The takehome assignment is already shoddy to ask for a senior position, and my expectations was to talk more on the product strategy, not basic UI. All 3 directors gave me a really bad impression of management at Standard Chartered and I never wish to be associated as employee or customer.
