I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Paychex (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jan 2023
Interview
The recruiter reached out and set up an hour’s interview with me and 3 others. Manager, a tech lead and another senior member of the team interviewed me. Manager spoke for 45 minutes non stop about their company and the position, going into so many irrelevant and unwanted details. After this he asked some casual personal questions about me and my family. I hardly got five minutes to talk. He did give me opportunity to ask questions after the 1 hour mark when the other started saying they got other call and things like that. After two days I got an email saying I was rejected. When I asked for the reason, the recruiter wasn’t sure, she said “maybe they are expecting more experience”. I had provided my resume that states my experience, not sure why they wanted to waste everyone’s time if all they wanted was a more experienced person. Wasted my time preparing for this interview and attending it. What a way to reject someone, could have done this over an email and saved everyone some time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Where are you from? Do you have family living with you? What do you like to do on your free time? Questions does not matter when the only one speaking throughout is the interviewer.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Paychex
Interview
I had a phone screening that was pretty typical and then an in person interview with the district manager. I was offered the job on the spot and accepted position.

Interview
Bad experience. Recruiter reached out to me. I spoke to her, then two of the district managers. I spent hours speaking to Paychex and was given no offer. They harped on my first job from years ago, but barely spoke about my current and longest role. I was told that they would get back to me if I was chosen within a week by the recruiter or by the leader I spoke to and would be given feedback. I was then told the next business day that I was rejected by a generic email. No call from the recruiter or leader. Wasted my time and feel like just a number.
