I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at FDM Group
Interview
The whole process was extremely easy. Submitted a CV and received a call back a few later to ask if I was still interested. Must be geographically flexible. Organised a 15 minute telephone interview - motivations, company knowledge, IT trends etc. Then received an email the same night saying I was successful and invited to assessment day.
Assessment day was in Glasgow office. Very relaxed and informal compared to traditional interviews. Staff all very friendly and relaxed. Day consisted of 3 interviews and 3 tests. Interviews lasted about 5-10 minutes, depending on how much you have to say for yourself. One was about motivations of technology, the other about your university and background, the last one was competency questions. Nothing very difficult and all can be prepared for before hand.
There were 3 tests, maths (mental maths), Venn Diagram tests and a multiple choice test with IT questions, maths and situational judgment questions. All very straight forward.
Importance is upon interviews and how you come across to the interviewer.

Question 1
Describe success in three words. Is change a good thing? What are current IT trends?
Got a call within a few hours of filling out the online application form. The call was to confirm that they have received my application form and would like me to book a telephone interview, which I did.
The telephone interview lasted approximately 15 minutes. Questions included:
- Do you know what FDM does?
- What can you bring to FDM?
- What role do you want?
- Why are you interested in this role?
- Did you enjoy your degree and would you do it again?
- Do you think university was a good thing and did it help you?
- What are some challenges that you think you would face working at FDM?
The telephone interview was relatively short and easy. A few hours after the telephone interview I received an email saying that I was through to the next stage of the application process which is an assessment day. I was told they will be in touch with me shortly with a suitable date.
