I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CarMax
Interview
Interviewed by 3 sales managers. Asked basic questions such as about my past. Was then asked to sell the manager a pen. Asked about my availability throughout the week. Nothing difficult.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at CarMax (Houston, TX) in Mar 2009
Interview
Once Carmax offers you an interview, be prepared to spend 2-3 hours. You will have a lot of paperwork, waiting, and multiple managers will come to ask you questions so they can get a collective perspective on you. A background and credit check will also be ran while you wait. For the company, the interview process makes sense, but as the interviewee, it is tiresome. By the time I had waited for 2 hours, and the 3rd person had asked me the same questions, I was ready to leave and unmotivated to work with the company.
Phone interview after applying through university website. Very friendly and mostly behavioral with a case question. The Human Resources representative as well as the interviewer were very pleasant to work with. I fumbled through parts of the case, but not because it was overly difficult. It was simply a question about probability and expected outcome.
