I applied online. I interviewed at CarMax (Richmond, VA) in Sep 2020
Interview
I applied for Carmax at the end of August, and was sent an assessment a week later. This was a timed mathematic assessment, and it was a little difficult. There is no feedback so you never know what you answered right or wrong. I actually did not think I did well, so I was surprised when I was invited for a phone interview a few days later. This was a basic phone interview going through my resume with the recruiter. A week and a half later, I was invited to a Interview Day which consisted of two case interviews, a behavioral interview, and a lunch with current analysts. The first case interview was mathematic and based off a document, and the second case interview was a puzzle which required algorithmic knowledge. I heard back from the company in a couple of days but was not given any feedback.

Question 1
If you had 100 paintings, how could you go through in O(n) time and select the most valuable one without going back?

Interview
I applied online and received an online assessment that involved interpreting charts/tables. After that I was emailed to set up a phone interview. The phone interviewer asked 2 personal questions and then there was a long case. You're not allowed to use a calculator on it and it's basically just doing a lot of mental math which doesn't show logical or analytical thinking so I think it's kind of pointless and gets rid of a lot of really good potential applicants.

Question 1
Land A and land B are on the other side of a river. The people of the town are talking about building a bridge that would connect these pieces with the land across the river. If land A is worth x and land B is worth y, and those prices are a 40% discount of what they'd be worth if the bridge is built, but a 50% premium of what they're worth if the bridge isn't built, how much would land A and B cost in each situation?
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at CarMax in Oct 2020
Interview
Phone interview that was about 20 minutes personal interview question, then 30-40 minutes on a case interview. The case interview was pretty simple, but I would have performed better if I had gotten the info on paper rather than verbally. I had applied through college recruiting site.
