Avoid ByteDance's Interview Process – A Complete Waste of Time!
I had one of the worst interview experiences with ByteDance, and I strongly advise job seekers to think twice before engaging with their hiring process.
Timeline & Process (or Lack Thereof):
The process started in December 2024 and dragged on for over 4 months, concluding in March 2025. I went through six rounds:
HR Screening - jimmy , he has no idea about anything
Hiring Manager Interview
Round 3
Round 4
Round 5 (with TWO HRBPs)
Followed by silence of 1 month
After a month gap, HR randomly called me for yet another round, which, in hindsight, felt like a mere formality to reject me.
A Directionless Hiring Process:
Lack of clarity: Even the hiring manager seemed unsure of what they were hiring for.
Poor communication: No updates, long gaps between rounds, and zero transparency.
Unnecessary rounds: It felt like an endless loop of repetitive interviews, testing patience rather than skills.
HRs are just schedulers: They add no value, have no insights, and cannot answer basic questions about the role.
Final Verdict – A Complete Waste of Time
After dedicating nearly four months, investing countless hours, and clearing six rounds, I received a generic rejection email with no feedback. Four months of effort, zero learnings.
ByteDance operates without vision, direction, or respect for candidates' time. If you're considering interviewing here, DON’T. Your time and energy deserve better.
