Wrong Direction

Pros

Supports employees who wish to work remotely. Majority of business is done via conference calls.

Cons

I've been a Xerox employee for 10+ years. Once Xerox and ACS merged, the direction changed. Rather than the 'best practices', they selected the 'worst'. Furloughs are commonplace (never existed in Xerox). ACS did not have the processes and skills that Xerox had. The company values are direction are lost. We're all numbers on a spreadsheet.

Pros

Fellow employees. There are no other pro's for this horrible workplace.

Cons

Everything else. Forced furlough, no salary increases in over 6 years yet the CEO gets bonuses and at the same time complains that the company can't increase pay. The call center is a sweat shop, plain and simple and the mentality of management is that of a prison camp.

A company in transition

Pros

Like any other big company, if you manage your career and find the right mentors, there is no limit to how high you can rise. Most positions allow some sort of work-from-home or telecommuting. Generally, the corporate culture is one of opportunity.

Cons

Xerox is changing to become a Services company. There is more competition with lower margins than in technology (printers). Revenue growth is an issue. There are pay freezes. There are furloughs (instead of lay-offs). Benefits are constantly being pulled back.
