Pros

Pay and having every other weekend off

Cons

No training given. I joined as a manager from my previous employer, but have been expected to just get on with it. There has been no structured training program. Rather than train me I just get told off for not knowing things. Department manager is a dictator and I am sure if she went through the interview process now she would not get the job.

Pros

Work is straightforward after initial training. Staff are generally quite friendly as are customers. Working for a well-respected retail supermarket is a bonus, as is the discount card after 3 months!

Cons

Room for improvement in one's role/advancement is not really there. Work can become tedious, and if the section managers aren't clued up they can be a bit of a pain as well.

Pros

Great pay with the advantage of receiving a share of the profits. There are also a lot of other bonuses to Waitrose staff.

Cons

Sometimes there are some unrealistic targets given by senior members. There is also not enough room for progression.
