Pros

- Free drinks and snacks if you're ever in the office - Some of the people are good people - that's about it

Cons

- never a break from work. They expect you to be available no matter if you're on vacation or if it's 10pm at night. - no care for employee well being - no work life balance - no processes, you constantly have to make crap up as you go because no one has a clue as to what's going on - unwilling to accept advice or new ideas, they'd much rather drive their employees to the ground and make them feel worthless than build a cohesive work environment and work-life balance - no one in management, all the way up to the CEO, has the same idea or vision where the company is going - makes blind promises about career growth and opportunities without any real path to achieving what they say - their version of "coaching" is sitting in a room with you for 5 minutes and telling you that they're there to help if you need it, then tell you that you're making excuses when you do need help - set completely unrealistic expectations for your responsibilities and consistently sets you up for failure - sells the entire world to clients then expects you to deliver in a ridiculous time frame and lack of resources, all with a signed statement of work that contradicts the needs and expectations of the client

We are very sorry that you had a negative experience throughout your time here. While you’ve obviously already contemplated this, if you feel this strongly and negatively about the firm it’s important that you sit down with the people you believe this about and have an open discussion. I can assure you that we do value feedback and work every day to try and do the right things for our team members and partners. While we feel we are on the right track, we definitely still have a lot of growth opportunities as an organization and as leaders. We will continue to focus efforts on alignment and hone our message so that not only our leaders, but our entire staff can be on the same page.

Pros

I wanted to write an honest and deserving review from my perspective on Valorem Consulting. I feel like only angry people write reviews and then people who want to work at a company only read negative stuff. I even had concerns coming into the company just from using Glassdoor reviews. I have not worked at Valorem since a lot of the negative reviews have been written, but I have been here long enough to see the current state of the company. I will say that this company has grown in size 90-100% each year of its existence, so that could explain some of the "issues" from previous reviews. I will say that this company has hit its stride quite well since I have been hired. I truly believe the company wants to take care of their employees and make sure they are happy. There are some really nice perks to working here: percentage of cell phone/internet paid per month, valet parking, free drinks/snacks, recently added unlimited PTO, great office/work space, awesome employees, good management, and the list can go on. Before I accepted a job offer from this company, my position was explained very well and there were no questions left in my mind when I accepted my offer. I have been very pleased with this company and it is unfortunate that some previous employees did not have the experience I am getting. I can talk to anyone who works here and they have a good attitude towards the company and people are definitely willing to help me out when I need it. My direct manager is an awesome person to work for and is definitely on my side. I have not had that experience with many companies. I am not micro managed and I don't have someone peeking over my shoulder every day. There is the perfect amount of communication and feedback between management and myself. Last but not least, there are a lot of opportunities for growth within this company. If you work hard, it will does not go unnoticed. Side note: people who complain about paying $20 a month for valet parking when you park your own car, come on.. You get up to $150 per month reimbursed on your personal internet and cell phone, free coffee, and many other perks to make up for that 100x over! - The main points to take away: you will be using the latest technologies. This is not a place to work if you want to come in and watch youtube videos all day or keep up on facebook posts. You are given a lot of freedom at this company which is a great thing, but you also need to be a professional and get work done. The experience and knowledge you can get from this company are unmatched for this area.

Cons

- First I will start off saying that the company was very transparent about how things work at Valorem Consulting prior to being hired. This company is producing applications and products that are using the latest technologies and staying ahead of the curve. Being an IT consulting company we have deadlines, and they are very real. If there is an expectation to meet a deadline, it needs to be met. Sometimes that involves putting in some extra hours when needed. That being said there are many resources and people put in place to set you up for success. - There are times when work is very challenging. I won't say that the work is overwhelming, but there are times when stuff will break out of nowhere just because of a recent Windows update or factors our of our control. In my position it is my responsibility to keep things working the way they were designed. That being said, the company was very transparent in letting me know about this prior to employment.

Pros

Valorem is really great about hiring talented individuals who, under better circumstances, could deliver very high quality work. Their office is in a good location in Kansas City

Cons

Valorem runs their business as a true "churn and burn" environment. There is very little support given to employees and often when an issue arises, management is very good at placing blame in the wrong places. Management at Valorem is kind of a joke. While there are a couple female managers, Valorem operates as a boys club - if you don't have an "in", life can become incredible difficult. While every job should have challenges to make employees better, the challenges at Valorem tend to make employees shut down and feel as though they do not have the skills they were hired to do. If you are a client, you can expect a lot of over-promising and under-delivering. Valorem takes on projects and work within projects that they, as a systems integration company, have no expertise in. Their web development projects are often outsourced to a company in Uruguay. Overall, Valorem is a company full of great employees and dishonest, over-bearing, and finger pointing management.
