Pros

Valorem is really great about hiring talented individuals who, under better circumstances, could deliver very high quality work. Their office is in a good location in Kansas City

Cons

Valorem runs their business as a true "churn and burn" environment. There is very little support given to employees and often when an issue arises, management is very good at placing blame in the wrong places. Management at Valorem is kind of a joke. While there are a couple female managers, Valorem operates as a boys club - if you don't have an "in", life can become incredible difficult. While every job should have challenges to make employees better, the challenges at Valorem tend to make employees shut down and feel as though they do not have the skills they were hired to do. If you are a client, you can expect a lot of over-promising and under-delivering. Valorem takes on projects and work within projects that they, as a systems integration company, have no expertise in. Their web development projects are often outsourced to a company in Uruguay. Overall, Valorem is a company full of great employees and dishonest, over-bearing, and finger pointing management.

Pros

Great Location, Great co-workers - although many of them have left too.

Cons

This is a young company that clearly does not understand the difference between “perks” and culture. While claiming to be agile, innovative and engaging, their management methods are stifling and reactionary. They use an extensive vetting process, and claim to hire only the best. But once through the door, you are treated as if you don’t know anything & have nothing to offer. Any suggestions as to how things might be improved are treated as criticism, and management immediately launches into defense mode, making you the adversary instead of a teammate that cares about the company and the culture. **the statement on their website that they are “Doing right by our people” clearly came straight from the Marketing team (which is great by the way). But actions have to back up words, and Valorem’s don’t.

Pros

If you enjoy a fast pass and meeting aggressive schedules then this is the company for you.

Cons

Not good at communicating change. Headquarters is a cut throat environment, unfriendly and people act like they don't remember you when you come back each time. Resourcing of dev staff is not well thought out. managing partners do not relay on experienced staff they hire to manage staff resources nor programs as they are in weeds constantly creating churn. Can be very unprofessional and personal in their criticism. No reward system for mid level staff that continually delivery great results.
