Amazing company in terms of perks for employees and the facilities Well paid Flexible work environment

Cons

They could throw you away anytime and it is consistent in VMware where people are thrown out every year. Most likely, new employees are thrown as they follow LIFO method to throw people out. This is the biggest issue as you will trust such big giant and enter the company but will be thrown out easily for business reasons and not performance related

Pros

Stock is doing well. Execs get nice bumps of RSUs. New markets being addressed can give them legs for the future.

Cons

Parts of the company have become of one culture. Unfortunately it a culture that leans to misogyny. The Health insurance was ravaged for cost; when I started I couldn’t believe how good it was. When I left I couldn’t believe how bad. Way too much offshoring for cost reasons; Costco model of buying engineers by the pallet.

Great technical challenges, many smart and hardworking people, above average benefits

Cons

Some teams in Austin (unlike what I have heard about Palo Alto) have terrible managers: - Lose their tempers at the smallest things and regularly - Cannot handle pressure - Micromanage yet blame their employees for everything that goes wrong - Work/life balance non-existent - Do not take feedback well - Threaten your job if you speak up - Have little people skills and little or no management training - Fail to inspire - Very low morale
