Good QoL culture, but lots of politics

Pros

Good quality of life, competitive salaries, relative job stability, and they allow for a reasonable work life balance. The location is also an amazing place to live as well.

Cons

Very thick management layer, and most of them were never in the trenches so they tend to not know when an issue needs to be reacted to and when it's a minor thing. A great many bad decisions get made out of lack of technical knowledge and understand as they do not seem to trust their tech leads to properly advise them. The management layer holds all of the keys, and people on the team do not feel as though they are being heard.

Pros

One of the biggest animation studio on the planet. Some of the more popular game (Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell..) come from this studio. Good perks

Cons

Management is overall pretty bad, lot of wrong decisions and wrong choices regarding the direction of the studio. Salaries are way below all the other game companies in Montreal. Lack of creativity and tendency to recycle over and over the same licenses.

Pros

Company values - Creativity: tries to keep different from others. Critics sometimes call it the "French Touch" - Accessiblity: Games for Everyone Teammates: - Lots of talent, lots to learn - Good ambience - Mutual aid Job progression: - You choose your carreer - Tech guys needn't do management to progress. Expertise is recognized

Cons

- Salary is not very competitive compared to other sectors/other countries. - Some administrative processes are somewhat heavy - Finally, Ubisoft is still a young company (26 years old at the time of writing) that has grown quickly. It still lacks some maturity in production processes, or in its global organization, but looks aware of it, and works towards the better. - Little consideration for the PC market
